Jimmy Phantom is an independent news site that tracks what's actually happening in AI — new models, company moves, tools developers are switching to, and the regulation shaping how AI gets used. We started the site in August 2026 because most AI coverage online is either too technical to be useful or too breathless to be trusted.
Who's behind it
Jimmy Phantom is run by a small, independent team. We're not backed by any AI lab, and we don't take payment from the companies we cover. When we like a product, we say so. When we don't, we say that too.
How our articles get made
Every article on Jimmy Phantom starts from a real, published source — outlets like TechCrunch, The Verge, and MIT Technology Review.
- Each new story is checked against what we've already covered, so we don't repeat ourselves.
- We score it for relevance and genuine newsworthiness before it's worth writing about.
- The piece is rewritten into our five-part format: what happened, what it means in plain terms, why it matters, and our own take — using AI-assisted drafting that a human reviews before publishing.
- We're upfront that AI assistance is part of our editorial process. The judgment on what's worth covering, and the opinions in the "JP Take" section, are ours.
What we're building next
Alongside daily news, we're building Power Rankings — honest, ranked comparisons of AI tools by category — and a comment system so readers with an account can react to articles directly.

This policy explains what data Jimmy Phantom (jimmyphantom.com) collects when you visit the site, and how it's used. We keep this simple on purpose.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. This is a privacy-first analytics tool: it does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect personally identifiable information.
Cookies and advertising (Google AdSense)
Jimmy Phantom uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. This helps keep Jimmy Phantom's content free to read.
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you're okay with this. If you decline, ads are still shown but without personalization, and no advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.

Accounts and comments
Creating an account (via a passwordless email link) is optional and only needed if you want to comment on articles or set a display name and profile photo. We store your email address, a display name, and an optional avatar image. Your email address is never shown publicly — only your display name and avatar are visible to other visitors. Comments you post are visible to everyone and can be deleted by you at any time.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal data.
- We don't require an account to read Jimmy Phantom.
- We don't track you across other websites ourselves — third-party ad cookies, if enabled, are managed by Google as described above.
- We don't show your email address to other users.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you, and the right to object to processing. Since we collect minimal data and use cookie-free analytics, in most cases there is little to nothing tied to you personally to request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Jimmy Phantom adds features like accounts, comments, or a paid subscription. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
